You'll drink about 16 litres of seed oil this year.

Almost none of it by choice. It isn't on a menu, and the person serving you usually doesn't know either. Point your camera at lunch and find out where yours is actually coming from.

Photograph it. That's the whole interaction.

Trace reads how a dish was cooked, roughly how much is there, how greasy it looks, and how much dressing is on it — then does the arithmetic.

An honest number

Every estimate is a range with a stated confidence. Never false precision from a photograph.

It admits what it can't see

Which oil a kitchen used isn't visible in a picture. When Trace assumes, it says "assumed" — and you can correct it in one tap.

Where it comes from

Your worst repeat offender and the kind of place most of it arrives from. Almost nobody's answer is their own kitchen.

The salad is usually the problem.

Everyone expects a burger to be bad. The thing that catches people is the order they placed because they were being good.

Grilled chicken salad. No fries, no bun.
Soybean oil in the dressing, the croutons, and the flat-top it was cooked on. Two tablespoons of restaurant dressing is around 14g of oil on its own — more than most sautéed mains.

Griddy keeps score.

A small pixel chicken who puffs up on a heavy day and slims down on a clean one. He resets every morning. He is not disappointed in you.

Honest about the science

No health authority sets a limit on seed oil intake, and linoleic acid — the main fat in most seed oils — is essential in the diet. The most defensible concern is about repeatedly reheated frying oil, which is ordinary in commercial kitchens. Trace tracks a dietary preference and shows you where yours is coming from. It is not medical advice, and it doesn't diagnose anything.
